Emirates NBD Bank’s primary capital infusion of ₹26,016 crore into RBL Bank will find its natural profitable growth, according to R Subramaniakumar, MD & CEO, RBL Bank.
This will enable RBL Bank to be positioned as a leading large bank, going ahead, Subramaniakumar said at an event to mark the completion of Emirates NBD Bank’s $3 billion investment in his bank.
Following the investment via preferential allotment of equity shares, Emirates NBD Bank (P.J.S.C) has 60 per cent stake in RBL Bank. It has been classified as a promoter of the bank.
Further, RBL Bank’s board has been reconstituted, with Emirates NBD Bank nominating its top executives to five board positions as (Additional) Non-Executive, Non-Independent Directors — Shayne Keith Nelson, Group Chief Executive Officer; Patrick John Sullivan, Group Chief Financial Officer; Neeraj Makin, Group Head of Strategy, Analytics and Venture Capital; Manoj Chawla, Group Chief Risk Officer; and Marwan Mahmood Mohammad Hadi, Group Head – Retail Banking & Wealth Management.
The Board, at its meeting on Thursday, also noted the resignation of Gopal Jain and Veena Mankar as Non-Executive Non-Independent Directors of the Bank.
“As we look ahead, our vision is to build a strong, more agile and future-ready bank—one which delivers a sustainable growth, superior customer experience and long-term value creation,” Subramaniakumar said.
Keith Nelson emphasised that the successful completion of the transaction of this scale reflects not only the commitment of the institutions involved but also the confidence global investors have in India’s economic future, regulatory environment and government standards.
“Today is much more than the acquisition of a bank. This is about our long-term commitment to India,” he said.
