A TNPL player has been fined for breaching the ACU code
A Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) player has been found guilty of violating the league’s anti-corruption code. The player is believed to belong to Salem and had represented Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy last year.
The bowler, a left-handed and right-arm batsman, was caught using a mobile phone in the PMOA area. There is no information yet about whether there has been a more serious breach, but at the moment, the player has been banned from playing in the remaining matches of the league, pending an investigation. He was also fined Rs 1 lakh.
TNCA officials were not immediately available for comment, and its secretary Bhagavan DAs did not respond to text messages from this site. However, sources at TNCA confirmed the incident to Cricbuzz. The player is in his mid-20s and has represented Tamil Nadu in two first-class matches and one List A match.
The TNPL Season 10 began on August 4, with the final scheduled to be held on August 28. Imtiaz Salem is currently at the top of the points table.
