Pakistan 44 to 0 trail County Professional Club Select XI 305 (Zaib 65, Fisher 62*, Falconer 59, Haines 51, Ali 3-23, Abbas 3.37) with 261 runs.
Pakistan’s final warm-up before the first Test, which starts at Headingley on 19 August, was originally scheduled to be played over four days but was later reduced to three due to player availability and it was agreed that all 14 members of the squad could play.
There was high gravity from the first ball of the day, with Pakistan claiming that Jay had stabbed Abbas behind off, but the England opener did not hold out for long anyway, edging out Abbas and Salman Ali Agha at number two at number three.
Abbas then caught James Rio for 4 balls but Haines raced to 50 off 30 balls, 12 of them coming from fours, only to fall lbw to Ali. Falconer and Zaib responded with a partnership of 110, although they were given a reprieve.
Falconer was on 29 when he edged Ubaid Shah, but Abdullah Shafiq dropped him at first slip, while Saif Theeb was perhaps at a loss when he was on 18 and lunged at Sajid Khan: the ball eluded Mohammad Rizwan and it went for a bye four, leaving PCC on 123 for 3 at lunch.
Zaib won the race to 50 by one off Salman before Falconer reached the same landmark off the next delivery, but Zaib was soon out trying to hook Khurram Shehzad, who fell on the rope due to Owais Zafar stumbling.
Falconer was caught behind Abbas’ Mohammad Ghazi Ghauri for 59, although the substitute keeper then missed a chance to get on James Sills when he was on one, having edged the same bowler.
Luke Benkenstein was also dropped initially, by Owais off Mohammed Ali, when he was 12, but was dropped two balls later, without adding to his score, and Ali was fouled by Ghazi Ghori, who sprinted to the back square.
In his next over, Ali had Noah Thane caught by Sajid for a duck at midwicket and was priced at 217 for 7 at tea.
Aamir Jamal got Charlie Tear behind for 7, but Fisher and Seales countered with a 55-run stand that ended when the latter edged Ali Usman to Saud Shakeel in the first over.
Fisher fired a six at Usman to get past 50 before Shoaib Bashir was the last man out, caught behind Shehzad for a duck.
The only real caution for Pakistan came when Jay Imam-ul-Haq was dropped at the start after getting the better of Nathan Gilchrist when he was on 14.
