Ali Fazal, who plays Guddu Pandit in the show, in a recent interview, revealed that one should rewatch only season 1, but up to the 6th episode. “Everyone must go home and watch Series 1 but only till episode 6. From episode 6, the story of the movie starts and revolves,” Fazal said during a promotional event in Patna.
The team recently revealed that the film is set in the previously unexplored part between Episode 6 and Episode 7 of Season 1.
Will I understand everything even if I have not watched Mirzapur 1-3?
Talking about the show, Tripathi told THR, “This is set within the time frame of season one and explores an untold chapter in Mirzapur’s politics and power dynamics.”

He explains that the movie can be enjoyed by both people who have watched the show, and people who have not. Pankaj further told THR, “The story travels to Rajasthan and my character Kaleen Bhaiya also goes there. An important new character, played by Ravi Kishan, joins the fray. It’s interesting because half the film unfolds along the Ganga plains and the other half in the desert. So visually, the contrast is striking. For people who have seen and loved season one, there is obviously a lot, including the return of several fan-favourite characters. However, for people who have not seen Mirzapur, it is still an enjoyable film with a proper beginning, middle and end.”

Who is Kaleen bhaiya?
Kaleen Bhaiya, aka Akhandanand Tripathi, is played by Pankaj Tripathi, who is making a comeback to the Mirzapur franchise. Kaleen bhaiya, as the name suggests, deal in carpets. But that’s the front for his business. In the back, he is a powerful criminal using his carpet business to hide his dubious activities.
On the surface, Kaleen is calm and composed. But if you tick him off, he will become the exact opposite. As he manages a multi-billion company of drugs and guns, he leaves no stone unturned to ensure everything runs smoothly in his business.
However, his biggest concern is his own son, Munna Tripathi.

Who is Munna bhaiya?
Next comes Kaleen bhaiya’s son, Munna bhaiya. A little useless, a little annoying, Munna is a worrisome character. Played by Divyenndu, Munna is Kaleen Bhaiya’s only son. He is power-hungry, hot-headed and stubborn. He wants what he wants, no matter what. His rivalry with Guddu Pandit, aka Guddu bhaiya, becomes the central point of the plot.

Ali Fazal’s Guddu Pandit is shown as a simple, gym-loving college student who is going about his regular life when circumstances pull him into Mirzapur’s violent underworld. After suffering personal loss, he transforms into a revenge-driven force, ready to take on Kaleen Bhaiya’s empire.

Who is Bablu Pandit?
Bablu Pandit, Guddu’s brother, was played by Vikrant Massey in the show. In the film, Jitendra Kumar takes up the role. Bablu is calm and composed, as opposed to Guddu.
Who is Ramakant Pandit?
Rajesh Tailang plays Guddu and Bablu’s father, Ramakant Pandit, an honest lawyer who refuses to bow down to a corrupt system, even when standing up for what is right puts his family and his own life at risk.
Who are the Gupta sisters?
The Gupta sisters play a key role in the story. Sweety Gupta, played by Shriya Pilgaonkar, is one of the most emotionally grounding characters. Her warmth and stability bring a sense of balance to Guddu’s life, making her murder a major turning point in the story. More about Mirzapur: The Movie
The film based on the popular web series Mirzapur was announced in 2024, with Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, and Divyenndu appearing in a video together. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, the film will hit theatres and will be released in Hindi and Telugu.
It will first be released in theatres and is later expected to stream on OTT.
The film is all set to release on September 4, 2026.
