Bayern loses three players to injury in the Telekom Cup against Leipzig

Friendly matches are intended to test the players’ waters and give opportunities to those who have not been able to get much playing time. Bad luck seems to have befallen Bayern Munich as they lost three players due to injury in the Tilikom Cup against Leipzig before the start of the new season.

Konrad Laimer was the first to engage in a challenge with David Raum just 10 minutes into the match. Min-jae Kim was next when he was taken off during the second hydration break in the 66th minute. Jamal Musiala appeared to collapse from heat exhaustion just four minutes after scoring Bayern’s third goal. He almost needed a stretcher for that. To make matters worse (literally), Sasha Boye went into convulsions after the final whistle.

The Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup is next week, and Bayern still have a friendly match against Heidenheim a few days before that. The players injured are all first-team players, something the Bavarians do not need before the start of the 2026/27 season. This gives Vincent Kompany a big headache, but hopefully the injuries are not serious.
