Borussia Dortmund rejects Barcelona’s opening bid for Adeyemi. I want at least 33 million euros

FC Barcelona has intensified its pursuit of signing Borussia Dortmund and German striker Karim Adeyemi during the past 24 hours.

The Catalan club have already reached a contract agreement with the player, which is a straightforward process given the striker’s desire to join the club and his previous relationship with Hansi Flick.

After obtaining the player’s approval, Barcelona then opened negotiations with Borussia Dortmund.

The first offer was rejected

Barcelona made an opening proposal €20 million in fixed fees plus performance-related add-ons. But Borussia Dortmund rejected the offer sign,

The German club is seeking a higher fee, as it paid 33 million euros to sign Adeyemi several years ago. At the very least, they hope to recoup this investment.

One factor working against the Bundesliga side is that Adeyemi’s contract expires in one year, increasing the risk of losing him on a free transfer if an agreement is not reached this summer.

Talks are continuing

Despite the rejection, negotiations are still active. The two clubs are expected to continue discussions over the coming days in an attempt to reach a compromise.

Barcelona remain optimistic, believing Dortmund are under pressure to sell. If the German club keeps the player and fails to extend his contract, he may leave for free next summer.

The Spanish League champions believe that this situation is their strongest negotiating advantage, especially after agreeing on a contract with the player.

Calm inside Barcelona

Although Flick is keen to sign Adeyemi, Barcelona is not prepared to exceed the financial limits it set for the deal.

Club officials believe that failure to complete the transfer will not represent a major setback.

Adeyemi is not seen as a starter, with Lamin Yamal currently occupying his preferred position.

the Blaugrana Ronnie Bardji is also available as a back-up option, although the Swedish striker has expressed his desire for more game time and has not ruled out a move elsewhere. But for now, he is still under contract with the club.

Barcelona are expected to keep up the pressure in the coming hours, with Flick ideally wanting Adeyemi to be available to begin first-team pre-season training.

However, that goal looks difficult to achieve given that pre-season starts next Monday, leaving little time to finalize an agreement with Borussia Dortmund.
