Gujarat recorded the highest number of passenger screenings in India amid tight surveillance after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), with 2,905 passengers screened in the state.
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare confirmed this No case of Ebola has been reported in India so far.
Gujarat records the highest level of screening at the state level
According to official government data, Gujarat screened 2,905 incoming passengers, the highest among states. Maharashtra followed with 2,228 bids, while Uttar Pradesh recorded 785 bids and Tamil Nadu 731 bids.

Mumbai leads screening at airport
At the airport and city levels, Mumbai recorded the highest number of screenings with 7,568 passengers, followed by Delhi with 1,833 passengers.
Hyderabad screened 532 passengers, Chennai 210 and Bengaluru 205. Ahmedabad airport recorded screening of 200 passengers.

A total of 10,974 international passengers It was released across India between 23 May and 28 July 2026.
Travelers from affected countries are under monitoring
The monitoring focused on passengers who arrived from or transited through the affected countries – the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda and South Sudan – in the past 21 days.
Enhanced surveillance has been implemented as a precaution following the Ebola outbreak alert.
Air Suvidha declaration is mandatory
No entry restrictions or travel bans have been imposed as part of the measures outlined so far.
However, passengers are required to provide Self-Declaration Forms (SDF) through Suvidha Air Gate 2.0 As part of the health monitoring process.
The authorities continue to monitor international arrivals and examine travelers at the main entry points, as the center confirmed this No case of Ebola infection has been detected in India so far.
