Australia 78-1 (9.3 overs): Full 45* (32)
Australia won by nine wickets
Australia and India continued their dominance in the Women’s T20 World Cup as they thrashed Bangladesh and Netherlands respectively.
Australia, who thrashed 2024 runners-up South Africa in their opening match, outplayed Bangladesh with bat and ball at Headingley, racing to their target of 78 with 10.3 overs remaining.
Fast bowler Kim Garth set the early tone, removing both openers as Bangladesh slumped to 27-5.
They barely recovered from that, eventually stumbling to 77-8 with Sophie Molyneux and Ellyse Perry taking two wickets each.
Australia, without injured opener Phoebe Litchfield and all-rounder Ashley Gardner, surged towards their target in style as Georgia Foale scored 45 off 32 balls, including a brilliant six in a row.
The six-time champions face the Netherlands in Southampton on Saturday and Pakistan at Headingley on Tuesday.
Litchfield is expected to miss both matches, but Australia are hoping to be ready for their final group stage match against India on June 28.
Gardner missed the Bangladesh match with a sprained ankle and no timetable has been set for her return.
