Telangana records 230 dengue cases in 4 months

Hyderabad: Despite the rains, Telangana recorded 230 dengue cases between April and July, according to the latest available state-level data from the National Center for Vector-Borne Disease Control (NCVBDC). The latest Ministry of Health monitoring data indicated a significant rise in dengue activity recently. But there were no deaths, according to the data.
The sources said this number is provisional and should not be treated as the cumulative number for August, as the national database was last updated on July 25. The difference between national and state figures is primarily due to reporting periods, as the state monitoring system captures the most recent activities at the district level.
In the seven days up to August 6, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) reported 532 cases, followed by Rangareddy 196, Warangal Urban 142, Medchal-Malkajgiri 136, Karimnagar 93, Nizamabad 89, Khammam 85, and Bhadradri Kottagudem 82. Hyderabad-based pediatrician Dr Sivaranjani Santosh told Deccan Chronicle that influenza is currently more prevalent, while dengue cases are sporadic. She advised protecting against mosquitoes and avoiding stagnant water around homes during rain. She also advised turning off vaporizers before entering the bedroom as they may cause allergies.
