Spider-Man: Brand New Day Box Office Pulls Ahead Of Avengers: Endgame In Week 3

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has pulled ahead in its neck-and-neck race with Avengers: Endgame.

2026’s Spider-Man: Brand New Daywhich stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker, is the 38th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and a direct sequel to 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home (which is the highest-grossing non-Avengers MCU movie and the eighth highest-grossing movie of all time). While Brand New Day has been breaking huge box office records, it hasn’t consistently beaten Avengers: Endgame (the MCU’s No. 1 movie and history’s No. 2 movie). While its domestic debut was higher than Endgame‘s, its global debut and its sophomore domestic haul fell behind the Avengers movie’s records in both cases.

Before getting his own solo film, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut by being recruited by Tony Stark to help in a massive superhero conflict. In which MCU film did Holland first appear as Spider-Man?

02

In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Peter faces a blue-collar salvage contractor who turned to arms dealing after being shut out of the Chitauri cleanup by Damage Control. Using an alien-tech wingsuit, he becomes one of Spider-Man’s most grounded villains. Who is he?

03

Tony Stark built Peter a high-tech suit loaded with features Peter didn’t even know about, including an AI assistant that helps him in combat, provides tactical analysis, and even gives dating advice. What name does Peter give this AI?

04

In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter encounters a seemingly heroic figure who claims to be from an alternate Earth, battling elemental creatures across Europe. In reality, he’s a disgruntled former Stark Industries employee using advanced holographic drones. What is his real name?

05

In one of the MCU’s most shocking mid-credits scenes, J. Jonah Jameson broadcasts doctored footage from Mysterio’s final moments that completely upends Peter Parker’s life. What does this broadcast reveal to the entire world?

06

With his identity exposed and his loved ones under threat, Peter seeks help from a powerful sorcerer to cast a spell that would make the world forget he is Spider-Man. Peter’s constant modifications to the spell cause it to fracture the multiverse. Which sorcerer casts this spell?

07

Throughout all three films, Peter’s loyal best friend serves as his “guy in the chair,” helping with tech support and keeping his secret. In No Way Home, this character even discovers he can open magical portals using a Sling Ring. Who is Peter’s best friend?

08

At the emotional climax of No Way Home, Peter makes an enormous personal sacrifice to save the multiverse. Doctor Strange completes the spell, and when it takes effect, Peter is left completely alone. What does the final spell do?

Sony Pictures Entertainment has announced that, as of Saturday morning, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is projected to earn a 3-day total of $67 million at the domestic box office by the end of its third weekend in theaters. This sees it earning the fourth biggest third-weekend domestic haul of all time. While it has fallen behind four other movies, most notably Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($90.2 million), which is the highest-grossing domestic release in history, it has managed to beat Avengers: Endgame‘s weekend 3 haul of $63.2 million.

None of the three movies above both Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Endgame on the chart of the best weekend 3 domestic hauls of all time are Marvel Cinematic Universe moviesthough 2018’s Black Panther also earned a weekend 3 haul that was higher than Endgame‘s. See the current Top 5 chart below:

Title

Domestic Week 3

Worldwide Box Office

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

$90.2 million

$2.071 billion

Avatar (2009)

$68.5 million

$2.743 billion

Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)

$67.4 million

$2.321 billion

Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)

$67 million (est.)

TBD

Black Panther (2018)

$66.3 million

$1.347 billion

Even though Spider-Man is set to just barely squeak past Ryan Coogler’s Black Pantherit has already grossed more than $1.7 billion worldwide, so its global haul has long since blasted past the 2018 movie’s global record. Because Brand New Day is still neck-and-neck with Avengers: Endgameslipping above and below it by various benchmarks, it remains to be seen where it lands on the all-time chart at the end of its run. Given its trajectory, it could very well outgross Endgame domestically and land slightly below it worldwide.

However, this domestic haul is more than enough for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day to take No. 1 at the domestic box office for the third weekend in a row. It is only the second release of 2026 to top the domestic box office for three consecutive weekends, behind the billion-dollar animated hit The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

It remains to be seen what new 2026 release will be able to knock Spider-Man: Brand New Day from its perch at the top of the domestic chart. While it looked like it might be facing major competition from the new release The End of Oak Street (which features Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor fighting dinosaurs), that movie is landing slightly below projections and fighting for No. 3 with fellow dinosaur-themed movie PAW Patrol: The Dino Moviewhich is landing slightly above its own debut projections.

The next movie against which Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be facing off is the Blumhouse horror sequel Insidious: Out of the Furtherwhich debuts on August 21. If that movie has a similar debut to the previous installment, it should gross roughly $30 million. If Brand New Day manages to have a relatively narrow drop of about 50%, it might be able to extend its streak at No. 1 to a record-breaking four weekends.
