Rakesh Bedi has been the talk of the town ever since the release of Aditya Dhar‘s ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’. The veteran actor won immense praise for his performance as Jameel Jamali in the Ranveer Singh starrer. Recently, at an event Bedi spoke about his character and if Aditya Dhar had revealed the suspense of his character to him initially. Bedi also spoke about his creative inputs to the role.Recalling his first interactions with director Aditya Dhar, he said at News 18 India’s award ceremony, “Pata toh tha, lekin jab mujhe narrated kiya, Aditya Dhar ne suayi one line…uske baad mujhe bound script bhihi. Jab maine read 2-3 baars, mujhe baad padhne ke hai ki this very tense film, tense hi nahi intense film hai. Then I felt like an actor because my Inclination in comedy…minds towards humor is hota hai, so I told Aditya that I am looking for such pockets, where we can sprinkle a little humor. So why should I try a little? So he said, ‘Rakesh ji, it is difficult to say this. But let’s see what happens next. Now act as you will.'”The actor revealed that Dhar was initially hesitant about introducing comic moments into the intense narrative. However, as filming progressed, both of them began enjoying the experimentation. “Toh shuru shuru me vo thodhe reluctant the, par badme unko bhi maja aane laga aur mujhe bhi maja aane laga,” Bedi shared. When asked to point out a specific instance where he contributed to the humour in the film, the actor immediately referred to one of the movie’s most talked-about dialogues: “Your buttocks are very white”. The line, delivered while referring to ducks in a scene, quickly became a memorable moment for audiences.Explaining how the dialogue came about, Bedi said, “Now no one can write this line. When the film hit, some people said that Dhurandhar’s script has been written by the PMO. I said, tell me, who is the person in PMO who can write this line? No one can even think like this.”He further disclosed that while filming the sequence featuring Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampalthere was actually no lake or ducks present on set. The spontaneous dialogue left the cast and crew laughing, and Bedi later suggested that the visual elements be added digitally in post-production to justify the reference. According to the actor, Dhar loved the line so much that he chose to retain it and enhance the background accordingly.Apart from Bedi and Ranveer Singh, the franchise featured an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Arjun Rampal, Gaurav Gera, Danish Pandor and R Madhavan in pivotal roles.
