NASA is developing artificial intelligence to predict solar storms 12 hours before they appear

NASA scientists are using artificial intelligence to detect magnetic activity hidden beneath the surface of the sun. A machine learning model developed by the COFFIES team can predict emerging active regions up to 12 hours before they become visible. Research could provide early warnings of solar flares.
