He will be produced in court today,” Hooghly (Rural) Superintendent of Police Kunar Bhushan Singh told PTI.
What the complainant claimed
According to the complaint, the woman said Burrell entered into a relationship with her after promising to marry her. She claimed that after their relationship ended, he threatened to share private photos of her. The police have registered a case under 19 sections, and most of the charges are non-bailable.The complaint also refers to an alleged incident that occurred in Delhi on April 2, 2026. The woman claimed that she was detained, was not given food and was deliberately isolated, leaving her physically weak and unable to walk properly.She also claimed that the two families discussed marriage, but the relationship later deteriorated after she discovered Burrell was involved with other women.
Court procedures
The case had previously reached the Calcutta High Court. Magistrate Saujata Bhattacharya directed the Majra police station to confiscate the electronic devices, including Borel’s mobile phone, and submit an investigation report.At the hearing on August 11, the police informed the court that Burrell had been arrested and would be produced before the Chinsurah Court. The cricketer has now been denied bail and has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days while the case is ongoing.
