Live: Nifty holds above 24,000; All eyes on Fed’s outcome tonight | Closing Bell

Indian equities pared part of their morning gains on Wednesday, though benchmark indices remained in positive territory supported by strength in capital goods, consumer durables, metals and PSU bank stocks. At 2:26 pm, the Sensex was up 189.52 points or 0.25 percent at 76,998.00, while the Nifty gained 42.10 points or 0.18 percent to 24,031.25. Broader market sentiment remained constructive, with 2,061 stocks advancing against 1,732 declines. While auto, realty and FMCG shares weighed on sentiment, gains in Trent, Hindalco and PSU banking stocks helped keep the benchmarks above the flat line.
