Apple began rolling out Siri AI in beta in English, and the company plans to expand it to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish in October, according to the release.

“Siri AI can help users find what they need in the moment, from answering questions on virtually any topic to surfacing relevant information from a user’s messages, emails, photos and more,” Apple said in the release. “And Apple Intelligence makes everyday experiences across Apple products more personal and helpful with new editing capabilities in Photos, intelligent browsing tools in Safari, an all-new Image Playground that can create photorealistic imagery, and more.”
Apple highlighted Siri AI’s ability to search and pull information from the user’s messages, take actions related to the content on a user’s screen, get up-to-date information from across the web, answer follow-up questions, capture what users say as polished text with greater precision, and answer questions about visual content.
PYMNTS reported Sept. 9 that Apple has been making the argument that because it controls the hardware, the operating system and the data on a person’s phone, it is the best-positioned company to deliver artificial intelligence. The company also stresses its devices’ privacy protections and deep knowledge of their users.
Apple said in the Monday press release that Siri AI and the features that rely on it will not be available initially in the European Union on iOS, iPadOS and WatchOS.
“Apple is working hard to find a path forward that preserves its users’ privacy and security,” the company said in the release.
It was reported in June that Apple said it would not roll out its new Siri AI experience on iPhones, Apple Watches and iPads in the EU because the company was unable to reach an agreement with European authorities that would allow the assistant to debut in the region while maintaining what Apple described as necessary privacy safeguards.
Apple also said in the Monday press release that Siri AI and other new Apple Intelligence features will not be available in China “while Apple works through regulatory requirements.”
