While many fans loved the tattoo, it sparked backlash tied to the recent controversy.
In particular, some thought it seemed hyporctical to tattoo the fandom name but not address the issue, especially after Chris Brown hit back at ARMYs’ reactions. They thought it was a shield from the idol rather than taking accountability and seeing why fans had such an issue, wanting a proper apology.
