India and Japan are scheduled to play a historic T20I match at Sanu


India and Japan are set to face each other for the first time in international cricket in the historic men’s T20I tournament.

The Japan Cricket Association (JCA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed in a statement that the men’s teams will compete in the T20I on September 22 at the Sano International Cricket Stadium in Tochigi Prefecture.

Both teams are scheduled to participate in the men’s cricket tournament in Asian Games 2026.

While Japan will participate in the group stage, India is scheduled to appear directly in the quarter-finals.

After it was extracted ICC Men’s T20 World Cup India will see them clinching the title earlier this year as an essential warm-up ahead of the Asian Games, having won gold in the men’s cricket competition four years ago, while Japan will look to gain invaluable experience from going up against some of the best players in the world.
