The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly set to sack Aqib Javed from the men’s selection committee in the wake of the team’s defeat to England.
according to PTI, Javed will be the latest casualty in the tour, which has already led to the sacking of head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Omar Gul, and the return tickets of the seven players who were dropped from the squad after the second Test. Chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq also tendered his resignation after he was reportedly not consulted to replace the seven ruled out players.
But Javid’s dismissal will be the most critical of all. The former cricketer is seen as a heavyweight in the PCB and is seen as the “blue-eyed boy” of its chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who is also Pakistan’s Interior Minister. Naqvi, who is himself under pressure from his senior political officials, is expected to ask Javed to focus on his other job as development director at the Lahore High Performance Centre.
