Toss Afghanistan Chose a bowl vs India
Apart from giving Prince a debut, India also included Yashavi Jaiswal and Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI. Harsh Dubey, Prasidh Krishna and Nitish Kumar Reddy were the players who missed the opening ODI. India captain Shubman Gill said Reddy was not available for selection due to a left thigh injury.
Prince has plenty of experience playing at the Ekana Stadium having played here for Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Super League for the past two seasons.
“The wicket looks new and will turn in the first innings. In the last match, we played well, but we lost the partnership and bowled our wicket. We hope the boys learn from this,” Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi said during the toss.
Afghanistan trail the three-match ODI series 0-1, having lost by seven wickets in a rain-shrinking 25-man match in Dharamsala. It’s a huge change from humid and cold Dharamsala to hot and humid Lucknow, where temperatures are expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius. Due to the heat, there will be three drink breaks during the first innings at 2.30pm, 3.30pm and 4.30pm local time.
