Opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq could face a two-year ban from international cricket for faking a hit during the second Test of the ongoing three-match Test series between England and Pakistan.
The left-handed batsman was part of Pakistan’s playing XI for the second Test against Joe Root’s England at Lord’s, but did not come out to bat in either innings due to a calf injury. In fact, he did not take to the field for Pakistan after the second session of the first day’s play at the cricket ground.
According to a report in Geographic News On Wednesday, Imam, who scored a duck in the second innings of the first Test at Leeds, is likely to face a ban of up to two years due to the controversy surrounding his injury.

According to PCB sources, during Pakistan’s white-ball tour of New Zealand last year, Imam injured his right toe during an intranet session, but fabricated, exaggerated or misrepresented his symptoms and misled the medical staff.
The left-handed batsman was one of the seven players dropped from the Test squad by the PCB ahead of the third match in Birmingham, and he returned to Pakistan this week along with the likes of Salman Ali Agha, Mohammad Rizwan and Ali Usman, among others.
It has also been reported that there are serious concerns over the discipline of Rizwan, the wicket-taker, and the PCB is likely to take strict action against him.
