Hollyland Pyro 7 Ultra Released – Calman-Calibrated 7-Inch Wireless Monitor with 4K60 and 20ms Latency


Hollyland has folded its flagship wireless transmission technology into a monitor. The Pyro 7 Ultra pairs the 4K60, low-latency link that debuted on the Pyro Ultra with a factory-calibrated 7-inch QD-LCD panel, all in a single camera-top device. At $1,399, it sits far above anything else in the Pyro line, and the display is what has to justify that gap.
The headline numbers: a 7-inch QD-LCD panel that is They calm pre-calibrated to a Delta E below 1.5, covering a claimed 99% of Rec.709 and 95% of DCI-P3 at Gamma 2.4, with brightness of up to 1,500 nits. On the wireless side, the company rates transmission at up to 1 km (3,300 ft), latency as low as 20 ms in Focus Mode, 4K60 video from one transmitter, and a broadcast mode that feeds an unlimited number of receivers. Hollyland is aiming the unit at cinematographers, directors, camera operators, DITs, and focus pullers, which is another way of saying it wants one box to cover camera-top monitoring, wireless focus pulling, and a director’s handheld feed at the same time.

The display is doing the heavy lifting
The original Pyro 7 from 2024 shipped with a 1,200-nit panel and no calibration story to speak of; it was a transmission product with a screen. The Pyro 7 Ultra reverses that emphasis. Quantum-dot LCD panels widen the achievable color gamut compared to conventional LCDs, and Hollyland says each unit leaves the factory Calman-calibrated to a Delta E below 1.5, which, if it holds up in practice, is territory normally associated with dedicated reference monitors rather than wireless transceivers.
The recalibration path matters just as much as the factory numbers. Hollyland offers its own Color Calibrator solution, which the company says works without a PC or third-party probe hardware. For a single unit that is a convenience; for a multi-receiver set where several Pyro 7 Ultras hang off one transmitter in broadcast mode, it is the difference between screens that agree with each other and screens that merely started out agreeing. Panel drift over time is real, and a calibration workflow that crews will actually run is worth more than a spec-sheet Delta E measured on day one.

The wireless specification reads like a direct transplant from the Pyro Ultra, which launched at NAB 2026: 4K60 transmission, Focus Mode latency as low as 20 ms, and unlimited receivers from a single transmitter. The underlying link is Hollyland’s proprietary Twin-WiFi (TWiFi) technology, which runs two wireless bands simultaneously as a dual-path connection and hops frequencies automatically when it meets interference. We first saw this transmission platform previewed at BSC Expo 2026when the latency target was still quoted at around 22 ms.
Set against the original Pyro 7, the generational jump is large. That unit topped out at 4K30, was rated at 60 ms latency and 400 m (1,300 ft) of range, and could feed four receivers. The Pyro 7 Ultra’s 20 ms Focus Mode figure is the one that changes who the product is for: at 60 ms, wireless focus pulling is a compromise, while at 20 ms it becomes plausible as a primary tool, which is presumably why focus pullers appear in Hollyland’s own list of intended users.
What happened to the extra half kilometer?
One number moved in the other direction. The Pyro Ultra transmitter-receiver system is rated at up to 1.5 km (4,900 ft) of line-of-sight range, while the Pyro 7 Ultra’s press text claims up to 1 km (3,300 ft). Hollyland has not explained the difference, and the release does not say whether the figure reflects the monitor form factor, antenna placement, or simply a more conservative rating. Either way, 1 km remains far beyond the 400 m of the earlier Pyro monitors, and range figures of this kind are line-of-sight best cases that shrink quickly on a real set full of people, stands, and RF traffic.
HollyOS, connectivity, and camera control
The Pyro 7 Ultra is also the debut of HollyOS, which Hollyland describes as its next-generation operating system, with direct display controls, customizable monitoring layouts, and a range of image analysis tools. The press text does not enumerate those tools, so whether the usual professional set of waveform, vectorscope, and false color is present, and how well it performs, remains to be confirmed against the shipping product.
Physical connectivity covers HDMI and SDI with loop-through and cross-output, so an HDMI camera feed can leave the monitor as SDI and vice versa, which quietly saves a converter box on mixed-format sets. Camera control is on board for what Hollyland calls select camera models from Sony, Canon, Nikon, and ARRI, with access to shutter, aperture, ISO, and white balance. The company has not published the compatibility list in the release, and with camera control, the specific models and the connection method are everything, so anyone planning to build a workflow around this feature should establish exactly which bodies are supported before committing. Similar control functionality already appeared on the smaller Pyro 5and the unit remains compatible with the wider Pyro family of transmitters, receivers, and monitors that has been growing since the series first appeared at NAB 2024.

Price and availability
The Hollyland Pyro 7 Ultra is available through authorized Hollyland distributors and the Hollyland online store for $1,399. That is a substantial step up from the original Pyro 7, which launched at $549, though the comparison is not entirely fair to either product: the Ultra carries a calibrated panel and a transmission platform that the older unit simply does not have. Whether it undercuts the cost of a separate reference-grade monitor plus a dedicated wireless kit is the calculation most buyers will actually be making.
