Their only previous meeting came in a 20-year-old match Way back in 2012when Harmanpreet Kaur was the man of the match and current India international Amita Sharma was playing. Hong Kong were bowled out for 24 matches, although that game did not carry official T20 status. Harmanpreet is the only Indian in today’s squad to play that match, while Hong Kong have Mariko Hill and Charlotte Chan who were also in attendance.
But that was a long time ago, and Hong Kong has improved greatly now. They lost their tournament opener to Thailand by just six runs last week and will be hoping to take India much further than they did in 2012. India, meanwhile, will look to build on their 94-run win over Thailand on August 30.
