Sonos Launches Beam Ultra Soundbar And Ace Ultra Headphones, Introduces Sonos 27 OS

Sonos has introduced two new products today: the Sonos Beam Ultra soundbar and Sonos Ace Ultra headphones. TC Acoustic, Sonos’ official distributor in Malaysia, will bring the new products to local consumers. On top of that, Sonos is introducing the new Sonos 27 operating system with AI-specific updates.
Sonos Beam Ultra Soundbar

The Sonos Beam Ultra is the brand’s new mid-size soundbar, and it largely maintains the same form factor and size of the original Beam while adding support for 7.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos. It uses nine custom drivers (5 tweeters + 4 woofers), including two upward-firing drivers, along with a redesigned center channel intended to improve dialogue clarity and deliver deeper bass. It’s also got a quad-core Arm Cortex-A55 processor for processing duties.
The soundbar includes four levels of AI Speech Enhancement that compensates to different levels of surrounding noises (i.e. humming of washing machines or kids playing), as well as a Night Sound mode that keeps loud noises low and quiet noises noticeable. The Beam Ultra can be expanded with a subwoofer or rear surround speakers such as Sonos Play or Move 2 speakers to form a full-range setup as needed.
Sonos Ace Ultra Headphones

The Sonos Ace Ultra is the company’s newest over-ear headphone, built with its in-house-designed 40mm driver, Adaptive ANC using ten microphones, and up to 35 hours of battery life with ANC enabled. It is the first Sonos headphone to use Headphone Engine 2, new hardware that allows direct connection to the Sonos system via headphone linking – this lets users move audio playing on their Sonos system to their headphones (or back) with a single press, without needing a phone nearby.
Both new products are designed to integrate with the wider Sonos ecosystem, which offers access to more than 100 streaming services and supports speaker grouping for multi-room and home theatre setups. Trueplay tuning is available for Beam Ultra, while TrueCinema performs a similar function for Sonos Ace Ultra when paired with a compatible soundbar. Beam Ultra connects via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and HDMI eARC, while Sonos Ace Ultra adds USB-C and 3.5mm connectivity options.
Sonos 27 Operating System

Meanwhile, Sonos 27 introduces new controls for the system, including AI-based voice interaction through multiple assistants. This includes Sonos Voice, the company’s own assistant for music and mood-based curation, and Sonos MCP, which lets users connect third-party AI assistants and agents, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT, to their Sonos system. Sonos has also previewed Sonos Custom Agents, a feature that will let users build their own agents with individual models, personas and voices.
The update also introduces Sonos Fabric, a system-level capability that allows Sonos products to detect each other and adjust accordingly. This includes headphone linking, launching as an Early Access feature, which connects the Sonos Ace Ultra directly to the Sonos system and lets users move audio between nearby speakers and their headphones.
A related feature, Sonos Positioning Technology, uses high-frequency sound to detect a speaker’s location, allowing compatible portable speakers to function as rear surround channels when placed appropriately. The Sonos app has also been redesigned with updated navigation.
Sonos 27’s updated app navigation and Portable Surrounds feature will begin rolling out from 8 September 2026, alongside Sonos MCP in Early Access.

Pokdepinion: Headphones that hand off audio to your speakers sounds handy, though the pricing here isn’t exactly pocket change.
