Barcelona star Olmo questions Atletico Madrid’s handling of the Julian Alvarez saga: “I don’t understand”
FC Barcelona playmaker Dani Olmo enjoyed a special day in Terrassa on Wednesday as his hometown celebrated Spain’s success in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Barcelona star received a hero’s welcome and proudly accepted the honor before speaking to the media.

Olmo does not understand Atletico’s position

Looking ahead to the new season, Olmo made clear Barcelona’s priorities: to continue winning all the titles.
He added: “There are new goals: to continue winning, and to continue defending the league, cup and Super Cup titles.” He said.
However, there is one title that trumps him and Barcelona, he said: “We want to go to the Champions League, where we have a more than enough squad.”
Olmo understands Barcelona’s decision regarding World Cup honors
Olmo was also asked about Barcelona’s decision not to hold a ceremony honoring the World Cup winners at Spotify Camp Nou.
The club had canceled the scheduled recognition after the violent arrest of a fan in Elche, and Olmo said that the players respected the decision.
“Ultimately, the club decided that this was not the right time to do that. We, as players, respected that decision. We know that the club fully appreciates the World Cup that we won.” Playmaker said.
“They felt like it wasn’t the ideal place after everything that happened. In the end, it was respectful, not a big deal.”
Another battle with Real Madrid
Olmo also looked forward to another season of competition with Real Madrid. He admitted that their rivals have strengthened significantly, but he believes Barcelona are equally determined to compete for every title.
“It’s always been like this. Real Madrid is a very well-reinforced team, with great players. And so are we. In the end, our goal is to win everything,” He said.
Barcelona have enjoyed two very successful years domestically, but Olmo insists the next step is to make his mark in Europe.
“We will fight for what we have, as we always have. We have had two very successful years at national level and now we want to achieve European success as well. That is our goal.”
