Asensio was sentenced in a DUI case

Real Madrid defender Raul Asensio was found guilty of drink driving in his hometown of Gran Caria two weeks ago, according to a report from local newspaper Atlántico Hoy.
Asensio was stopped at a routine checkpoint in southern Gran Canaria while driving his car in a recreational area. He was not involved in an accident nor driving recklessly. His blood alcohol level was 0.90 mg/L, almost four times the legal limit of 0.25 mg/L, resulting in him being found guilty of a road safety offence.
The Spanish centre-back accepted the punishment and was found guilty three days later in a speedy trial held in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. He was fined €14,400 and his driving license was suspended for eight months.
Asensio is currently absent due to the injury he suffered during the pre-season at Real Madrid. Real Madrid tried to find a new club for him throughout the summer, but he ended up staying.
