Adobe launches Adobe for Slack, adding 70+ creative tools

Adobe has launched Adobe for Slack, an integration that brings more than 70 tools from its creative and productivity software into Slack, available now for Slack Business+ and Enterprise+ teams.

The app connects to Slackbot, Slack’s built-in AI assistant. Users install the Adobe app, describe what they want to create in their own words, and Slackbot calls on the relevant Adobe tool to produce it. Slackbot can also pull context from a user’s Slack conversations, files, channels and Canvases, so the Adobe app can draw on that material when creating or editing work.

The integration includes tools from Firefly, Adobe Express, Photoshop, Premiere, Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Stock and Lightroom, among others. Adobe said the app is intended for uses such as marketers building campaign assets, social media strategists adapting creative for different channels, and other users turning data and information into customer-ready documents.

Adobe said the app lets users turn project plans and conversations into PDFs, images and videos, using information that Slackbot finds and summarises from a conversation or Canvas. Users can also ask Slackbot to search their Creative Cloud assets by subject, style or mood to locate content from past projects, then bring it into a Slack workflow to continue editing.

Other functions include creating variations of approved campaign images and videos sized for different social channels, and browsing design templates that can be customised and then animated for social media or turned into a print-ready PDF. Adobe said users can also bring in a spreadsheet and have the Adobe app convert it into a shareable PDF or visual, and can edit sets of images in bulk, including removing backgrounds and distractions, adjusting lighting and tone, and cropping or resizing.

Work created or edited through Slackbot can be shared into a team channel for others to review. Adobe said users who want more creative control, greater precision or deeper document insights can continue their work in its standalone apps, including Adobe Express, Photoshop, Premiere, Acrobat and Firefly.

Adobe said the launch is part of a wider effort to bring its creative and productivity tools into AI chatbot platforms, including ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot, with a version for Gemini due to follow.

To set up the integration, users open a direct message with Slackbot, select the Apps button and choose Manage Apps, then select the + icon next to Adobe and either continue as a guest or sign in with an Adobe account. Adobe said the app can be used without an Adobe account, though signing in or creating a free account unlocks additional tools and skills, generative AI capabilities, access to Creative Cloud files and continuity across sessions.
