Skoda has released the first detailed teaser of the Slavia facelift ahead of its India launch on 18 August. While Skoda is still keeping the sedan’s complete details under wraps, the latest teaser gives us a closer look at several of the visual changes coming to the updated model.
From what can be seen in the teaser, the Slavia facelift will retain the familiar overall silhouette of the current sedan, but will receive a number of detail changes to give it a fresher appearance.
At the front, the teaser appears to show a revised grille with a more prominent chrome treatment. The headlamp design also looks different, with the updated lighting elements expected to give the Slavia a sharper appearance. The lower portion of the bumper seems to have been reworked as well, including changes around the fog lamp area.
The side profile appears largely familiar, although the teaser gives us a glimpse of a new alloy wheel design. The updated wheels appear to have a multi-spoke pattern, while the chrome window surround continues to feature on the sedan.
At the rear, the Slavia facelift gets updated LED tail lamps with what appears to be sequential turn indicators. The overall shape of the tail lamps remains familiar, suggesting that Skoda has focused on updating the lighting signature rather than completely redesigning the rear of the sedan.
The teaser does not give us a glimpse of the cabin. However, the facelift is expected to retain the existing dashboard layout while bringing updates to the equipment and interior finish. One of the highlights for the new Slavia is a larger infotainment system, while the top variants will get a 10.24-inch digital instrument cluster as seen on several spy pictures.
The updated Slavia will continue with the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo petrol engines. The 1.0-litre will be available with a six-speed manual as possibly a new eight-speed torque converter automatic, while the latter will continue with the seven-speed DSG.
More details, including the complete variant-wise feature list, will be revealed at the launch on 18 August. The Slavia facelift will continue to compete with the Hyundai Vernathe recently updated Honda Cityand the Volkswagen Virtus.
