Eight children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours to 8:00 am today, bringing the total confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths in the country to 902 this year.
The General Directorate of Health Services classified all eight recent deaths as suspected measles deaths.
This brings the total number of suspected measles deaths to 803, while confirmed measles deaths remain at 99.
A total of 728 new suspected cases of measles were reported during the 24-hour period, bringing the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 141,776.
At the same time, 70 new confirmed cases of measles were recorded, bringing the total laboratory-confirmed infections to 17,800 cases.
Since March 15 this year, a total of 123,494 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country, of whom 119,089 have recovered, according to data from the Directorate General of Health Services.
