‘Every player will be looking to target him there’: Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s weakness revealed

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel thought the young opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi He will continue to face a barrage of short-pitched bowling in international cricket, saying England’s plan against the teenager was clear from the Indian Premier League and would remain the preferred tactic of opposition bowlers. Vaibhav, who impressed with his performance in IPL 2026, is yet to translate that success into international cricket. The youngster managed to score 14 off 10 balls in the second T20I and 13 off five deliveries in the third match against England, as the hosts tested him time and again with short deliveries.
“Not only Jofra ArcherI think anyone who has watched the Indian Premier League will not be surprised that there is a deliberate plan to move away from Vaibhav Suryavanshi. It wasn’t just wicket-ball. The ball before it is also short. “In the first match, on the delivery he hit for a six, it might not have bounced much, but the line was the same,” Parthiv told Jio Hotstar.
“As Vaibhav Suryavanshi progresses in his international career, he will continue to face this type of bowling, with short deliveries of over 145 km/h. So, the question will definitely be how he deals with short-pitched bowling, because every bowler will look to target him there,” he added.
Patel also called for greater awareness of the game from India’s batting unit in the fourth T20I after their dismal collapse for 78 in the third match, urging batsmen to adapt better to English conditions rather than chasing quick runs from the start.
“I would like to see a better understanding of the game and more awareness of the game from the Indian batsmen at Bristol. Yes, there are 200 runs on the board, but these are all experienced T20 batsmen, and in this format, you have a little more time than you think,” he said.
“You can take one or two overs to get your attention. The conditions are different, the wicket is not flat, you have to get used to the dimensions of the ground and the speed of the wicket. So, it is very important to give yourself some time,” Patel added.
India will be hoping to bounce back in the fourth T20I after the heavy defeat in the third match, as the home team looks to end the series with another win.
