Switzerland beats Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1 and tops Group B in the World Cup World Cup 2026

All five goals were scored in the final 30 minutes as the game exploded into life in Los Angeles in the final minutes.

Johan Manzami scored a late brace after coming on as a substitute in the 71st minute, after goals from Ruben Vargas and Granit Xhaka, as Switzerland won 4-1 over Bosnia and Herzegovina with ten men and leads Group B in the World Cup.
Switzerland’s last three goals at Los Angeles Stadium came after Bosnian defender Tarik Muharimovic was sent off in the 80th minute, who was sent off for obstructing Briel Embolo to deny him a clear scoring opportunity, in a thrilling end to the match on Thursday.

When it was all over, Switzerland, with one win and one draw, was at the top of the group despite the unexpected Draw with Qatar 1-1 At the opening of the tournament.

All five goals the team conceded came after the 70th minute, including the equalizer 1-1 Opening draw for the tournament against Canada.
However, it looked as if Bosnia’s cautious approach would work until Switzerland coach Murat Jakin decided to bring on Manzambi.
Shortly after his introduction, Vargas broke free down the left flank and crossed towards the back post.
Amar Memejic tried to head the ball away but Manzambi instinctively received the second ball near the penalty spot and fired a vicious side shot that was too strong for Bosnian goalkeeper Nikola Vasiliy.
Any realistic hopes of a positive result for Bosnia ended six minutes later when referee Joao Pinheiro had no choice but to show a red card after Muhremovic’s late tackle from behind.
Four minutes later, Vargas slotted into the bottom right corner after Embolo picked up the ball near the penalty spot and then passed it to an open teammate to his left.
It was Vargas who provided the assist when Manzambi completed his brace in the 90th minute, and after Mahmoud had pulled a goal back, veteran Xhaka scored from the penalty spot seven minutes into second-half stoppage time.
