The first evening of the tournament saw the bowlers turn into a sideshow as the ball flew in all directions. Seifert made his MLC debut with a six-point win over Wiaan Mulder early in the game, and kept his foot in fifth gear through the rest of his stint. The Orcas took 57 runs in the Powerplay, with Seifert scoring 39 off 24 deliveries while his opening partner Shayan Jahangir got off to a tough start, helping himself to 10 (13) in the period. The carnage continued in the middle, still mostly off Willow Sivert as he reached a 32-ball fifty. The Orcas reached the halfway stage on 89/0, with Seifert on 54 off 37 and Jahangir on 24 runs with the ball.
