Sreesanth poses an open challenge to Harbhajan Singh in an in-ring fight: “Do you have guts?”

The famous “slap gate” controversy from IPL The year 2008 refuses to disappear from public memory, and has once again become a topic of conversation since S Sreesanth Publicly challenged Harbhajan Singh To the ring fight. The incident dates back to a match between Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and Mumbai Indians, when Harbhajan slapped Sreesanth on the field after the match. The episode sparked widespread outrage and became one of the most controversial moments in IPL history.

In the years that followed, both players seemed to be gone. They’ve shared public platforms, appeared in ads together, and are often seen interacting amicably. Harbhajan has also apologized on several occasions, publicly expressing remorse for his actions.
However, the relationship seems to have deteriorated again. The reason was reportedly a recent ad featuring Harbhajan, in which he seemed to highlight the infamous incident without naming Sreesanth directly. Sreesanth revealed that he has once again cut ties with Harbhajan and blocked him, accusing the former spinner of taking advantage of a painful chapter in his life. He also claimed that Harbhajan got almost as much $1 Crore from advertisement.
Sreesanth recently appeared on a Lallantop show, where an old picture of him and Harbhajan Singh wearing boxing gear was shown on the screen. When asked about his reaction to the photo, the former Indian player took the moment to issue a direct challenge to Harbhajan, saying he was ready to settle matters inside the boxing ring.
“This same scene, do you have the guts? Do you have the guts to step into the ring with me? Can you sign and come? Can you? I’m asking him. Do you have the guts to get into the ring with me? Wearing the same gloves… This is not an act, I’m smiling. You’re not even smiling, I don’t know what you’re doing. Let’s see. This is an open challenge,” Sreesanth said.
“I’m currently in the Bear Knuckle Fight League, and I’m also one of the main sponsors of the Conor McGregor video; one of my close friends sponsored it, so it’s been promoted as well. I challenge you, Bhajji (Harbhajan Singh),” he added.
“Let me win too”
Sreesanth did not stop there. The former Indian pacer doubled down on his challenge, urging Harbhajan to settle their differences in a real contest and not through advertisements or public ridicule. He framed it as a matter of self-esteem and said he was ready to take on the former spinner in the ring.
“I challenge you, Baji. If you have such a big problem with the slap and with me, and you earn this much money… let me earn too. Come to the ring. I am inviting you from my heart. If we have some self-respect, let us not do advertisements and all that. In a real way, for all the Malayalis and all the sardars, please come. I am waiting.”
