toUwais Romo punished a blunder in the 50th minute by goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu, and Mexico’s historic dominance over South Korea in the World Cup continued with a 1-0 win in Zapopan, Mexico, on Thursday (June 18, 2026) to win Group A.

Raul Rangel made a stunning save from two late goals to keep Mexico’s second clean sheet and secure top spot in the group, ensuring Mexico will play a round of 32 match and a potential round of 16 match in Mexico City.

Both Mexican champions (2-0-0, 6 points) were shining on the field where their club plays for CD Guadalajara. Their actions led to El Tri winning their third World Cup in as many matches against South Korea.
