Mahindra Vision S Takes Production Shape Ahead of Launch

- Brand’s new lifestyle SUV
- Expected to be offered with both ICE and EV powertrains
Mahindra’s Vision S is slowly beginning to reveal its production-ready form. While the company is yet to officially talk about the SUV in detail, recent sightings and developments suggest that work is progressing steadily behind the scenes. When it arrives, the Vision S is expected to become one of the most distinctive SUVs in Mahindra’s portfolio.
What immediately stands out is its shape. Unlike the coupe-inspired SUVs that have become increasingly common, the Vision S sticks to a traditional upright silhouette. It gets a flat roof, near-vertical surfaces, and a squared-off stance that gives it a tough, no-nonsense appearance. The wide track and chunky black body cladding further add to its visual muscle, making it look every bit like a lifestyle-focused SUV.

At the front, the Vision S features circular headlamps with integrated DRLs, a design element that appears to have made it from concept to production. The bumper gets vertically positioned fog lamps, while the upright nose and high bonnet contribute to its commanding stance. Overall, the proportions are likely to remind many of the Defender, although the execution remains distinctly Mahindra.
The Vision S will be underpinned by Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform, which has been developed to accommodate multiple powertrain options. This means the SUV is expected to be offered in both internal combustion and all-electric forms, allowing the brand to cater to a wider audience from day one.
Inside, Mahindra is said to be working on an entirely new cabin layout. Unlike the dashboards seen in the Scorpio N, XUV700, or even the latest electric SUVs, the Vision S is expected to adopt a more utilitarian and practical approach. That said, buyers can still expect a generous feature list, with modern technology and connected car features likely to be part of the package.

Mahindra has not confirmed a timeline yet, but the Vision S is widely expected to make its first public appearance towards the end of 2026. If everything stays on track, the SUV could reach showrooms in early 2027.
