19 minutes is enough: Alonso shows Chelsea stars an early red eye

Chelsea coach Xabi Alonso sent off one of his players just 19 minutes after introducing him as a substitute during a friendly match on Tuesday, before the start of the new season.

The new Blues coach gets to know his squad during a pre-season tour of Australia and Asia. He kicked things off with a friendly match against Western Sydney Wanderers, winning 6-4.

It was a 2-2 draw at half-time, with Chelsea bringing on 20-year-old Alonso Omari Kyleman for Reggie Walsh (Ryan Kavuma-McEwen) at the start of the second half.

Keleman lasted only 19 minutes before he was replaced by the talented Brazilian Estévao, according to “.The sun“.

The attacking midfielder joined the Blues from Aston Villa in 2024 for £19m.

But his first season was plagued by ankle and hamstring injuries, which kept him out of former coach Enzo Maresca’s plans.

Last season saw Kylieman move on loan to Cardiff City in the Championship, where he impressed by scoring 11 goals in 36 appearances.

Given his limited minutes, another battle awaits Keleman as he looks to prove his worth under Alonso.
